Get To Know CCNY’s Molly Ranahan

Why is CCNY’s mission important to you?

CCNY’s mission is really focused on collaborative work and community impact.  I love that we are a diverse team that is structured to really draw on collective backgrounds, skills, and areas of expertise.  This enables us to work alongside of our clients to support their capacity to do important work in the communities they serve.  Our work is not done in isolation, but rather in an effort to directly enhance work already being done.  It’s actually really incredible.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I really enjoy listening spending time with friends and family, volunteering, and being getting involved in community events.  I love chatting and love doing things with others, so anything that is social and/or service-oriented, I am there.  I also love binge-listening to podcasts.

What inspires you?

Learning and putting new things into action.  There is nothing more incredible than working through an idea and seeing it come to life.

Why are you in non-profit work? What emotional reasons?

I honestly have always wished that I had the emotional strength to pursue a job directly with people in healthcare/ non-profit work.  I really admire people, my own family and friends, who do this work and have always wanted to find a way to support them.

Who is a hero of yours?

My parents.

What’s something quirky about you?

My wife and I met working in a restaurant.  I don’t cook at all, but I love the “front of the house” aspect.  While neither of us work in this industry anymore (though she is a restaurant health inspector!), we still love the local food scene and I occasionally fill in doing catering and bartending when there are opportunities to do so.  It’s just the best!

What’s in your coffee?

Nothing– or a shot of espresso.

I will never be seen without….

Kate Spade earrings.
