The importance of play cannot be underestimated. It is a vital part of child development, helping to foster creativity, dexterity, and resilience, which leads to better adult outcomes and a healthier society. To that end, CCNY would like you to know about The Play Everywhere Challenge, a design competition inviting new ideas for bringing play to unexpected but everyday spaces, making play easy and available for kids and families. It is supported by one of our community partners, the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. Please note that CCNY is not in any way affiliated with the competition or the grant-awarding body.
There is a combined total of $720,000 in prize funds available, which will go to 17 grantees in WNY and SE Michigan. So if you’ve got a great idea for transforming otherwise mundane spaces such as laundromats, waiting rooms, or even sidewalks into fun, inviting places for kids to use their imaginations and bodies, we encourage you to apply at: apply.kaboom.org. Plus, if you submit your Idea Form by their Early Bird deadline, April 6th, you can receive additional support and feedback from KaBOOM! in developing your Play Everywhere concept.
