Job Description: Interpreting Services Department Assistant

Status: Part-Time (15 hrs week, 1-4pm M-F)

Responsible to: Manager of Interpreting Services

Primary Function: To provide Interpreting Services department with staff support in the areas of phone

coverage and customer relations

Specific Duties:

  • Answer department phones and record accurate customer information
  • Relay customer information to Scheduling Coordinator in a timely manner
  • Follow up on customer requests for additional information or changes
  • Contacts customers as requested by Scheduling Coordinator regarding confirmations
  • Conducts quality assurance calls to customers regarding interpreter arrivals/services
  • Assists with additional related functions as requested by agency personnel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette and customer service skills
  • Basic computer competency in MS Office, Word, and E-mail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Deaf Culture or a desire to learn
  • Knowledge of Sign Language or a desire to learn
