Topic A: Secondary Traumatic Stress: Building Resilience in Behavioral Health Staff

Session Objectives:

  1. To increase participant knowledge of traumatic stress and its impact on the Behavioral Health Professional.
  2. To increase participant knowledge of individual coping skills that can be learned and used by Behavioral Health Professionals to reduce the impact of Secondary Traumatic Stress;
  3. To increase participant knowledge of social and organizational supports in reducing the effects of Secondary Traumatic Stress on Behavioral Health Professionals;  and
  4. To develop a personal action plan to reduce the effects of Secondary Traumatic Stress on Behavioral Health Professionals.

Topic B: Why the Model Matters

Session Objectives: 

  1. Refresh regarding the roots of the Wraparound Initiative, the L’Arche Movement, The Brownsdale Programs and Kaleidoscope Inc.
  2. Refresh regarding The 10 Principles as practiced with pure model fidelity.
  3. Explore and identify being accountable to both original model fidelity and modifications based on local community/ system needs.
  4. Identify our practice strengths to limit the impact of local modifications that may dilute the pure model
  5. Identify, refresh and celebrate our examples of our collective resiliency

Topic C: Matching Risk to Protective Factors for Youth at Risk for Delinquency & JJ Involvement

Note: For those FVN/CSOC staff that have or will attend the full day Trauma Informed Care with Youth at Risk for Delinquency and Gang Involvement Training, this will build from the foundation of that session.

(i.e. targeted to daily application within Care Coordination  & CSOC) *

Session Objectives:

  1. Learn to identify risk factors for delinquency and JJ involvement.
  2. Learn to match protective factors against reduce and/or offset risk factors
  3. Identification of natural/ community based resources that can serve as protective factors
  4. Identification of “in network” vendor services that can serve as temporary protective factors
  5. Building Planned Actions with Steps & Methods specific to Risk/Protective factor matching

*This session will also use Case Study Work OR participants can use a “live” open case for their case study work during this session.*
