CCNY entered into a challenge to share innovations on concierge services for people with cancer. This was part of GuideWell Innovation’s Cancer Challenge. Although we did not win, we were happy to have been voted 5th and for having the opportunity to compete. GuideWell’s release discusses the problem, the responses, and the winners below. We offer our congratulations to the winners.
More than 1.6 million Americans are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2017. When we launched the GuideWell Cancer Challenge earlier this year, our goal was to create a collaborative platform that would allow innovative ideas and potential solutions to come to the forefront with the ultimate mission of making it easier to navigate life with cancer.
Participation in the Challenge was tremendous with more than 600 innovators visiting the challenge page. A total of 43 submissions, over 500 votes and more than 100 comments were received. Our esteemed group of judges were challenged to select winners in each category because of the incredibly innovative ideas that were submitted. Ultimately, they were able to narrow down the field, and we are happy to announce the winners of the GuideWell Cancer Challenge:
New Idea ($5,000)
- Michael Batista (Quantified Care) – Mobile Chemotherapy Check-Up: A Quantified Care & DSHI Collaboration
Existing Idea ($2,000)
- Cinde Dolphin (KILI Medical Drain Carrier) – A Breast Cancer Drain Initiative (ABCDi)
- Michelle Grady – Benign Mole or Melanoma?
Top Comment ($2,000)
- Joseph Jon – (Emrify) regarding WATLI – Health Assistant and Recorder
People’s Choice ($1,000)
- Robert Palmer (PotentialMetrics) – MyCancerJourney (MCJ)
We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to submit, vote, judge or comment during the Challenge. Our team was truly inspired by all of the creative thinking that took place. As you know, GuideWell is committed to supporting cancer patients navigating the many obstacles of surviving and living with cancer and providing them with the support they need.
