This one-day training is designed for social workers, counselors, clergy, attorneys, judges, court personnel, teachers, probation officers, police, hospital personnel, and other professionals and individuals who are interested in receiving foundational information about domestic violence from the perspective of the National Battered Women's Movement.
The state-of-the-art information presented by the faculty will include:
- Statistics on who is abused
- Sexism, the roots of domestic violence, and the need for comprehensive social change
- Dynamics of domestic violence, understanding battered women and their safety needs including specific safety needs of victims living in rural communities
- What we can do in our practice and with our policies to address domestic violence
- Answering the question of "What do we do with the men who batter?"
