Community Asset Mapping Research Project

Are you interested in community development, asset mapping, mapping technology, or learning about Erie County’s strengths? Consider assisting Community Connections of New York (CCNY) in researching community assets and developing an asset map for Erie County.

We are looking for information about important, valuable services in the community. They can be as various as a person who teaches African drumming for free on Saturdays, a soup kitchen that provides free meals, a recreation center, a support group for single mothers, or an organization that provides scholarships. We have identified hundreds of assets; yet, know that we have barely begun. Once we have gathered a significant amount of information, we will work with a vendor to create a Google Map application that will display the results. In addition, we will develop a link to Google Earth that will allow us to analyze the results.

We could use a volunteer, an intern, or a student in need of a service project. If you are interested in participating in a cutting-edge, community development project, please contact CCNY at 716-430-3395.
